FAQ
How long does an animal stay in foster care?
The duration varies greatly. It can be as short as a couple weeks or as long as several months, depending on the animal’s age, health, behavior, and how quickly they receive adoption applications. We ask for a commitment for the duration of their foster stay to minimize stress for the animal.
Do I have to pay for the animal's expenses?
No. Reputable rescues like Wag On Inn cover all necessary costs. This includes food, supplies (crate, leash, bed, toys, etc., which are often loaned), and 100% of all approved veterinary care (vaccinations, spay/neuter, medications, emergency care).
What if the animal has behavioral problems?
Many rescue animals need work on basic manners (house-training, leash skills) and may experience initial anxiety. If you encounter significant behavioral issues (e.g., aggression, severe separation anxiety), you must notify the rescue leadership immediately. We have trainers and behavioral experts who can provide guidance and support.
Do I get to choose the animal I foster?
Yes! Visit our Foster list page and you can specify your preferences (size, age, species, etc.).
What if I need to travel or can no longer foster?
We understand that life happens. If you need a break or an emergency comes up, you must notify the rescue immediately so we can arrange temporary care or find another approved foster home for the animal.
