Meet Sylvie

Sylvie’s story began in a hoarding situation, where she was one of more than 40 dogs rescued. Despite everything she had been through, this sweet girl had a gentle spirit—and a very important job ahead of her. Sylvie arrived with a litter of puppies and proved to be the most loving, devoted little mama.

Her babies have all found their forever homes, and now it’s finally Sylvie’s turn.

From her foster home in Louisiana:  Since coming into foster, Sylvie has truly blossomed. She’s discovered the joy of feeling safe, loved, and cared for—and it shows more every day. She’s wonderful with children, gets along beautifully with other dogs, and even does well with cats.

Sylvie is still building her confidence, especially when it comes to meeting new people, but we're working on it.  She met young girls the other day and was very happy to take treats from them — she wasn't ready to be pet yet.  She is not mean, just stays away.

Sylvie enjoys playing with the other small foster dog in her NJ foster home – they run and steal toys from each other.  She's been timid with large dogs, but she gets to meet some regularly on our neighborhood walks and she's getting more comfortable with them.

Sylie enjoys going for neighborhood walks.  She loves to cuddle in bed with her foster family. She especially adores the male in the family and cries for a couple of minutes when he leaves!  (That is unusual for the little dogs we foster; often dogs are more comfortable with females rather than males).

What Sylvie really needs is someone patient and kind—someone who will show her that the rest of her life will be filled with love, not uncertainty.

She’s come so far. Now she just needs her person.

Sylvie is altered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Her

adoption donation is $450.

Adopting an animal is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these animals have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.
